Composed as a tribute to Samoa’s rugby team, this is a song of encouragement and support for warriors heading out to battle.

O oe na ou tauina
e mai le tele o fugalaau
le taofiaina
ua tonu lo’u mafaufau
O alo ma tama fanau
ua sili ese lou naunau
Tafetoto ou ala a’o e alo atu e te tau
Tafetoto ou ala a’o e alo atu e te tau

Tali:
O oe o le toa e te tau mo lou malo
Ou te tapuai e ala i le tatalo
Ia lalaoa lou liu
Ia manuia ou faiva
E lua au pelu o lou fatu ma le Atua

Na tau Tavita
aua na faau’uina e le tama
Na alaga Iosua
aue, ina ia tumau o le la
Lona finagalo ia faia
o manuia na o le tau a’a
A a’e malo o oe o se auauna le aoga
A a’e malo o oe o se auauna le aoga

Tali:
O oe o le toa e te tau mo lou malo
Ou te tapuai e ala i le tatalo
Ia lalaoa lou liu
Ia manuia ou faiva
E lua au pelu o lou fatu ma le Atua

Ia e manatuaina
o loimata o matua

o le atunuu atoa
Ia e loto toa
O ou mama uma na
O’u uso peleina ia lele malie lau ti’a
O’u uso peleina ia lele malie lau ti’a

Tali:
O oe o le toa e te tau mo lou malo
Ou te tapuai e ala i le tatalo
Ia lalaoa lou liu
Ia manuia ou faiva
E lua au pelu, o lou fatu ma le Atua

Tali:
O oe o le toa e te tau mo lou malo
Ou te tapua’i e ala i le tatalo
Ia lala’oa lou liu
Ia manuia ou faiva
E lua au pelu, o lou fatu ma le Atua

Every time I hear this song, a tears tends to form in my eyes. Tears of Pride for my lil bro and all Samoan Toa serving in middle east and tears of sadness for the Toas who did not return home. As the song says:
“O oe o le toa e te tau mo lou malo
ou te tapuai e ala i le tatalo
ia lalaoa lou liu
ia manuia ou faiva
e lua a’u pelu o lo’u fatu ma le atua”
My house and I will be forever grateful and continue to pray for all of the Toas safe return. Remember you carry the hopes of your parents and country on your shoulders and the two most potent weapons that a Toa carries into battle is his Heart and Faith in God.

Peace

Christine

What does tauina mean?

Kokoboy

@Christine, tauina = picked ….:)

Christine

Thank you Buxter 🙂 I know that was a random question. It’s just that I once knew a Samoan song, when I lived in Hawaii that went something like “Tauina, Tauina, Tauina, uina, uina ai.” I have always thought the “uina” part was a play on words. But now I’m wondering what that all means. Do you know the song? How would you translate that line? I’m so happy you wrote. Fa’afetai!

Rohyne

I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH 🙂
