Masi Samoa – a love song to Samoan food – was composed and first performed in the 1960s by this group of old school LDS missionaries to Samoa. Today, it’s been covered by several other bands, most notably Jamoa Jam, and still remains a party favourite.

Masi, masi Samoa
Masi, masi Samoa
Fa’alifu fa’i
Masi, masi Samoa

Atoa masi Samoa

Atoa ma pilikaki, too

I le taimi na sa ou sau mai Amerika

Masi, masi Samoa
(Shooo bop bop!)
Fa’alifu fa’i
(Shooo bop bop!)
Masi, masi Samoa
(Shooo bop bop!)

Atoa masi Samoa
fa’alifu fa’i
Atoa ma pilikaki, too

Summer breeze for those in love
(Shooo bop bop!)
Music plays until you hear that song
(Shooo bop bop!)
I said, homeboys jamming to the tune of swing

Jamoa Jam’s gonna do that thing
Jamoa shoobeedoowop!

Masi, masi Samoa
(Shooo bop bop!)
Fa’alifu fa’i
(Shooo bop bop!)
Masi, masi Samoa
(Shooo bop bop!)

Atoa masi Samoa
fa’alifu fa’i
Atoa ma pilikaki, too

Boys keep rocking on a Samoana soul
(Oooooohh)
Rhythms up because the boys all know
(Shooo bop bop!)
Island fever …?
(Oooooohh)
Jamoa knows why all the girls are warm
cause Jamoa knows how to rock
(Ti ti ti taahh)

Masi, masi Samoa
(Shooo bop bop!)
Fa’alifu fa’i
(Shooo bop bop!)
Masi, masi Samoa
(Shooo bop bop!)

Atoa masi Samoa
fa’alifu fa’i
Atoa ma pilikaki, too

Masi, masi Samoa
(Shooo bop bop!)
Fa’alifu fa’i
(Shooo bop bop!)
Masi, masi Samoa
(Shooo bop bop!)

Atoa masi Samoa
fa’alifu fa’i
Atoa ma pilikaki, too

Ooooohhhhhh!

A o’o mai le taimi ou te toe fo’i atu
(Masi, masi Samoa)
Tagata o lo’u nu’u ou te fia avatu

I believe the second line should be:
“I Kanata lo’u nuu ou te fia avatu”
(Listen to youtube video)

Lead vocal Randy Broadhead was from Canada
