Ou te Manatuaina le Pese

Here’s the Samoan version of the classic Anne Murray song, Could I have this Dance

Ou te manatuaina le pese na taina
a o e opoina a’u i le siva
A o ta feliuliuai le musika manaia
O le alofa ua amataina

Pe e te mafai ea ona ta sisiva pea
avea oe ma a’u paaga i po uma lava
ma ta faamasani a o ta feoai
avea pea oe ma a’u paaga i aso uma o lo’u olaga

E le mafa’agaloina le musika manaia
a o ta uu lima ma sisiva
A ou tepa atu ma ou manatunatu
E fia avea pea oe mo a’u

Pe e te mafai ea ona ta sisiva pea
avea oe ma a’u paaga i po uma lava
ma ta faamasani a o ta feoai
avea pea oe ma a’u paaga i aso uma o lo’u olaga

I’ll always remember the song they were playing
the first time we danced and I knew
As we swayed to the music and held to each other
I fell in love with you

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life
Would you be my partner every night
When we’re together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life

I’ll always remember that magic moment
as I held you close to me
As we moved together I knew forever
you’re all I ever need

Pe e te mafai ea ona ta sisiva pea
avea oe ma a’u paaga i po uma lava
ma ta faamasani a o ta feoai
avea pea oe ma o’u paaga i aso uma o lo’u olaga

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life
Would you be my partner every night
When we’re together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life

The traslation here for partner is (paga) not pa’aga. To pair, to be a dance partner. Not yet a developed relationship. Its just a request to be a dancing partner every night, there’s interest but the relationship is not yet established to be pa’aga.
