Maniuniu e le popo pei o le upu i le fa’alolo

Ou te le tau fa’ailoa o lau vaai ma lau fa’alogo
Ou te ta’utino atu lava oute feololo

Ta te le fa’amalimali, Samoa e ua e niu ali
Le ava ma lona siliaga o a’u totino a’ia’i
Feausi mai ma tama’ita’i, vaaia ma ala e uli ma toto a’i
Ma i iole niniva ua vili tau i lona tumua’i

[Tali]

Samoa e, o Ti’iti’iatalaga lava na na fasi
E sauai sa nofo i le efu
O nivaniva sa pulea o le afi
Aumai i le mauga fiafia ua fa’avela ai tausami

[Tali]

That makes two of us. The lyrics are too deep and so high for my beginners Samoan brain too..LOL

I am in love with this song. Would someone be so kind enough to translate this into English? Pls and thank you (:

jjw

That’s kinda hard because I think that some of the lyrics may not be correct.

such as the word fa’alogo, which I believed is fa’alolo. in the first verse.

2nd verse its say malae uli. I think its ala e uli, black rocks. which the 3rd verse refers to, e alalaga mai lava o ma’a.

Last verse. e sau ae sa nofo nefu. I think it is. Le sau’ai sa nofo i le efu. the monster who lived in ashes.

hopefully someone can confirm or reject the suggested words before any translation
effort.

Stop it! we are all in the same boat.
Thank you! LOL

Veneration are beyond mention
As the words are said in gathering
Samoa, you are well versed in myths and legends
I don’t have to declare in your sight and your hearing
But I can tell you that I am much more than average.

I won’t speak in riddles
Samoa’s history has been established.
But the kava’s glorious history belongs to me
Brought by the ladies swimmers
Noticed the black rocks and planted it there
Chewed by rats felt dizzy caused spinning in their heads.

Niniva and Punialava’a you’ve accustomed to
The land and the sea surrounding you
I won’t have to make known
What the world already knew
O Punialava’a of your multi-dawn

I won’t make up stories
For the rocks could bear me witness
Escape to the groaning rock
Guarded by the speaking tapa
It’s where the pool of virgins
Sina the albino boycotted male
Painted bodies with lama
mixed with sacrificial blood

I won’t stick it to you
Nor created something new
Your rule is as mana
of bitter harvest kava
The land of ghostly people
Rats octopus eels and banded rails
The land rooster foreign cock crowed
blocked off the lane to shore.

I don’t mean to be spontaneous
But in jesting and amusement
Samoa is none other than Ti’iti’iatalaga who conquered
The monster who lived in ashes
For he alone controlled the fire
Brought from the mountain
Elated with the pleasure of cooking food

Beautiful song and I wish I know the actual words to this amazing song written and sung by the one and only Punialavaa.
The one thing i know for sure oloo sese I upu ole pese o loo I luga e le sa’o le tietie ia talaga. Suppose to be Ti’iti’iatalaga. He was one of the strongest warrior back in the days. Wish one of the punialavaa crew put lyrics up for everyone to see

Iletai

The warrior you mentioned is none other than the great Maui. Tiitii ATalaga
Although in Samoa he goes by few names is this case his dads name is Talaga and as a boy Maui would always sit on his dads shoulders where his name comes from “tiitii ATalaga
In Hawaii it’s Maui tikitikiotaranga

Just my 5cents 😊
